Behavioral Health
Our Behavioral Health team brings expertise in the full array of mental health and substance use services, from prevention and early intervention to crisis response to peer-delivered services and clinical treatment.
We use evidence-based practices, approaches, and policy
We understand the full constellation of community-based services, providers, and touchpoints for people at every step of a recovery journey.
We’re also grounded in science and the evidence base, so we know which interventions are more likely to be effective.
Our team works with government agencies, foundations, and other partners to improve behavioral health systems across the country. Our projects include:
- single- and multi-site program evaluation
- needs assessment
- systems planning
- gap analysis
- and evidence-based policy planning.
Our methods range from advanced quantitative data analysis to qualitative and mixed-methods approaches. And we frequently share our expertise, providing training and technical assistance to help others rigorously evaluate innovative or promising practices — and put them into action to achieve better outcomes.
We are informed by your community
Our approach is all about including everyone in the community, respecting individual choices, and promoting behavioral health services that consider culture, trauma, and personal needs. We listen to people who’ve been through their own experiences with behavioral health systems, advocates, and other community members who bring local expertise. People with lived experience are on our staff and our board of directors, and we seek out community priorities and perspectives on all our projects; these experiences inform and enrich our work at every step. That’s what our person-centered practices are all about.
We believe in comprehensive cross-systems change
We take a big-picture approach, considering how behavioral health systems interact with other services like health, education, criminal legal, aging, disability, and housing. By understanding these links, we guide program administrators, funders, leaders, and community partners in planning for long-term improvements.
