National Core Indicators Partners Recognized With Policy Award

On January 7, the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD) announced that the National Core Indicators (NCI) initiative was being awarded its 2020 Policy Award! Each year, AAIDD honors selected individuals, groups, or organizations who have made outstanding contributions to the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities. NCI will receive the Policy Award for contributions to disability policy and impact to systems of support.

The Administration for Community Living (ACL) announced the launch of the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Technical Assistance and Resource Center. The Human Services Research Institute (HSRI) will administer the new center along with its partners from the National Association of State Head Injury Administrators (NASHIA) and a group of subject matter experts, including people with lived experience of TBI.

An HSRI report on needs assessment methodologies for substance use disorder (SUD) treatment capacity was published last week by the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) and the Office of Disability, Aging and Long-Term Care Policy (DALTCP). The report presents a review of the literature on needs assessment methods and SUD needs assessment reports representing diverse interests, including rural and urban areas, researchers, government agencies, and private consultants.
